BN F units plowing snow shy of Northtown yard in Fridlay MN in Mpls MN around 1983.
Title:  BN F units plowing snow shy of Northtown yard in Fridlay MN in Mpls MN around 1983.
Description:  BN F units ran out of Northtown yard in Fridlay Mpls MN until 1984. Some F7B units worked as hump units at Northtown yard in the later 1980s. A few F units survive on the BNSF today as rotary snow plow power units. In this photo note the Harco spark arrestors on the trailing F7B unit. This is probably an ex Great Northern F7.B

At its peak this depot serviced over 125 passenger trains per day. The Mpls post office is to the left and remains today. The Milwaukee Road, CNW, and Soo Line used the three tracks to the left on a grade to get out of the Mississippi River valley and get access to their grain elevators and also to the Milwaukee Road depot.
