Description:  The Rock Island had a double deck swing bridge to cross the mississippi in Cottage Grove, trains on top deck, cars on lower deck. Part remains preserved today. Used by passenger trains and Rock freights. The swing span now removed was to the left of photo. I have photo of a freight in 1975 crossing the top level.

Description:  The MRL in Montana leased back units to the BNSF during the fall grain rush. The SD9s were once high nosed SD9s, and were chopped. SD9s were super reliable units, pulling passengers, freight, iron ore and worked the mountain grades. They coupled with steam engines at the end of steam in the 1950s and continue to serve us today.

Description:  The Milwaukee Road built the shortline bridge at 1,100 feet long and 135 over Mississippi River in Mpls used by Hiawathas and freights. Today its still used by the Minnesota Commercial down to 1 track instead of the original 2 tracks. Note 2nd unit TC&W CF7.
